Know which documents to keep, how to report an issue, and which party may be responsible for service after delivery.
Protect your investment
Warranty coverage varies by manufacturer, model, component, installer, and contractor. Request the applicable written warranties, exclusions, claim procedures, start dates, and service contacts before signing purchase documents.
Walk through the home when permitted, note visible transport or finish concerns, and take clear dated photos. Keep delivery records, inspection forms, serial or model information, purchase documents, and communications in one place.
Describe the issue, when it began, where it is located, and whether it affects safety or prevents normal use. Include photos or video and your order and home identification details. Do not conceal or substantially alter the affected area before it can be reviewed unless immediate action is needed to prevent injury or further damage.
The responsible party may be the home manufacturer, appliance maker, retailer, carrier, installer, site contractor, utility contractor, or homeowner. Written contracts and warranty documents determine coverage; submitting a request does not by itself confirm that an item is covered.
Follow manufacturer maintenance instructions for roofing, siding, sealants, plumbing, heating and cooling, ventilation, foundations, drainage, and appliances. Address leaks, drainage problems, and safety concerns promptly and retain maintenance records.
